In 2017 we welcomed the second volume of Anthony Child‘s Electronic Recordings From Maui Jungle, an ambient excursion into the music of the forest “comprised largely of languid, undulating synth patterns and effects often stripped back to just a few layers” – a counter-response to the legendary’s techno producer’s repertoire as Surgeon. Unlike his raw, pounding, and mesmerizing rhythms for Tresor, Downwards, or his very own, Dynamic Tension, these modular synth explorations fit neatly alongside the works of Steve Hauschildt, Abul Mogard, and Donato Dozzy belonging on the Edition Mego imprint, which always pushes our senses askew. On September 18, Superstition welcomes the return of Anthony Child, Samuel Kerridge and Acolytes of Yama for a trio of live performances at EartH for an all-encompassing surround sound experience.
“Superstition is happy to welcome back titan of the UK techno scene, Anthony Child aka Surgeon for the second time this year. For this outing, the revered artist will be playing a special live set at EartH using the venue’s world-class L-ISA 360 sound technology for the very first time. It promises to be something altogether different from his work as Surgeon. Focussing on the development of timbre and texture, Child will be exploring his improvisatory sensibility and the potentials of modular synthesis in the resplendent seven hundred capacity art deco theatre supported by L-Acoustics breakthrough technology. Fans will be treated to a one-off immersive multidimensional sound experience with awe-inspiring clarity and augmented sound panorama that is natural as it is vivid as the artist pushes fundamental components of electronic sound production to the fore. If you’ve heard either of Childs’ albums on Editions Mego, this is a rare opportunity to experience one of electronic music’s most versatile and in-demand trailblazers in a unique setting – it’s not to be missed.”
