OK, I’m starting to dig this Out Today column myself. Every Friday morning I can sit down, go through the latest releases, update the playlists (Headphone Commute Daily and Contemplative Classical), catch up to emails, and in the process get immersed in music. I’m not the one to always chase the latest and the greatest, but it is nice to make a note about something that may pique your interest as well. Like this Tripping With Nils Frahm concert film on MUBI, which is the closest that we can get to experiencing live music these days. Or like this teaser announcement about an upcoming album from A Winged Victory For The Sullen (out on February 26th). I also have an awesome track that I wanted to highlight here [embedded below]. This is Ben Chatwin‘s remix of Evan Gildersleeve‘s piece “Mortal” which is released today as a debut single. “[Chatwin] has transformed Evan’s free-flowing piano improvisation into a wash of hypnotic patterns. His compelling remix flows through blissful ambient passages, finding its anchor as it swells into a dense, undulating rhythm.” I hope that you find your own anchor as well…
