Headphone Commute’s Best of 2022

Here we go, folks, it’s time for another round-up of the year! This was another strange rotation, which brought on even more anxiety [for me] and real-life hardship [for many others] due to the war in Ukraine. Looking back at the last few years, I would happily trade this one for a year full of lockdown rather than living as if everything was normal while people are genuinely suffering. As a result, we’ve got even more dark and edgy music expressed by artists from all over the world. The continuing ripples of COVID compound this angst. I noticed that many of my favourite musicians didn’t even release any music in 2022, and I genuinely hope they are okay. But in the end, you and I are still here, right now, and we’ve got all this wonderful music to keep us staying sane.

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve carefully sifted through many of my favourites, and am now happy to present you with my annual thematic lists. This is the 15th Edition of Headphone Commute’s Best of the Year selections! As usual, the format is the same – I’m picking only full-length albums [so no EPs or compilations here, sorry], sticking to the ones released in 2022 [so no re-issues], and covered in each list in alphabetical order by artist [so no ones is truly #1].

One more note before I begin publishing these (one per day) – if you can, please subscribe for automatic notifications via email of all the latest posts – I don’t know how much longer I will retain my presence on the social media platforms. So this is the best way to keep in touch.
